next day, we went around the tuscany region. went to a wine factory and saw how they made the wine. the view was marvellous and there even was a swimming pool overlooking the hills~!!!

so cool! and we had a wine tasting session but i didnt like wine. and then after that we went to sienna, a town on a hill. there were many backalleys and it was damn easy to get lost in there. dad sneaked away from the group to buy a large can of beer. ugh. he's always looking for beer you know. saw a stall selling watermelons and they were huge. i hope the pic is able to show its size. and then we had lunch at a fast food restaurant called ciao restaurant. ciao is an italian greeting by the way.
dad loves this picture a lot.
watermelons.
the oyster-shape plaza in sienna.after that, the tour guide took us to a church which has the finger of st catherine or something like that. on the way i saw a graffiti with zidane's name on it! yay but sadly i didnt take a picture of it and i regretted it immensely.
the church from afar.
view of sienna.after the church visit, we went to florence, and we had to walk really fast because time was running out. but i took many nice photos anyway.
one of my favourite photos.went to a place where there was a statue of david. the david vs goliath statue. a replica of michalangelo's. i don't take pictures of statues because they usually don't wear anything. the tour guide says that dr m specially made david's head bigger than usual because this represents a relatively small guy can defeat a huge monster. and this also means that a small town like florence can have a big influence over the others. ya. saw this interesting statue.
"steal my football and you'll die!"haha ya. and there was a statue of medusa's head being cut off but i didnt take any pictures. and there's another statue that shows u a person's face no matter where you see it. ya. but the women are naked, and therefore i didnt take any pictures.
after that was a hasty walk to the river. or the canal. i don't know what they call it, but it's a water body nonetheless. the tour guide brought us to this bridge which was spared from destruction during the world war 2 by hitler. it is called ponte vecchio, which means bridge vecchio in italian. because he wanted to use the bridge for his tanks and troops to cross the canal. or river. and by the way ponte vecchio leads to rome. but then, all roads lead to rome.
on vecchio

about that picture above, the tour guide says that the characters from 'a hongkong tv series that involves aeroplanes' dated here or something. he couldnt recall the name but i knew (because i know this certain person who is obsessed with this particular tv series). triumph in the skies! i said. and so i took this pic specially for the certain person and she was damn jealous! haha!!!!!!!!!!!!
the sun was setting (it was about 8pm when i took that above pic) and i took this picture of ponte vecchio and i love it so much!!!!!!!!
awwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!and then we went to a higher ground with a superb view of florence, italy. yay! i love florence.

ponte vecchio and the dome of a cathedral! awwww the view was sooooooo breathtaking ahhhhh!!!!!!!
back at the hotel i had smoked ham, and it's so salty it's like eating salt. my dad hated it also. bah. shouldnt have ordered smoked ham and shouldve gone for the traditional spaghetti. whatever. went to bed that night eagerly awaiting the trip to venice the next day. :D

wandered around for awhile before going to the top of a staircase to watch them. saw schwarzer saving corners. and then i explored the stadium and found the entrance to the pitch. there was a group of fans waiting outside with markers and jerseys and notebooks. a gate was separating us from the pitch and i could see the players out there kicking around. a purple bus was parked outside, presumely the players' coach. haha, couldnt recognise anyone because i only knew cahill and viduka and schwarzer. and i couldnt see them. but who cares, im not an australia fan anyway.
then a guy came out and i heard some of the fans say he's schwarzer. so i took pictures.there was a table at a corner with 2 balls and shirt on it. and i saw signatures of the players on the shirt. and then training ended and the players came out. the fans got really excited and began asking for autographs and taking pics. i just stood at one side and watched because i dont want any.
then i saw tim cahill come out and sign the balls. and the shirt. and i took pictures since he's famous. then he came out and the fans started mobbing him. took a close up of him haha.
okay so mission accomplished, i got to see what i wanted to see. so i went home.
i couldnt help thinking, what if it were the french or arsenal team who walked out of the gate. what would i feel and what would i do? i think i'll be damn hysterical. lol. but it's the australian team, of all teams! but i dont think the french or the arsenal will come anytime lol.
in the mean time i'll just have to look forward to saturday. :D singapore vs australia! yay i'll definitely enjoy this.
oh by the way someone requested this picture. so here it is...

yes, i know i look stupid. but it feels good nonetheless.

the next day, we left our hotel and headed towards florence. on the way, we stopped by orvieto, an ancient town on a cliff.

we had to take a tramride up.
the slope is damn steep yknow!up there, we went to the fortress protecting the city from enemies. (actually the cliff already acts as a natural protection, but who cares)

went to this 500 year old well, st patrick's well. it's damn dark down there yknow!

from the top of the well
from the bottom of the well.then we went to see the duomo, aka cathedral.

after that we went to pisa. saw the leaning tower of pisa (duh)! my dad took a picture of me 'headbutting' the tower (take that you wops! this is from france!) but i don't want to post it. and had cappuccino with the tower as the background! :D

there's dad and his beer... i love coffee! see the empty cup at the corner! :D

and at the exit, guess what i saw????!!!!

that's right, the ARSENAL YOUTH TEAM!!!!!!! :D apparently they're in italy for some holiday or something! whhhhaaaaaaaaa maybe one day they'll be the next thierry henry or something! i searched arsenal.com for the name of that coach (far right) but i couldnt recognise anybody! but who cares! VIVE L'ARSENAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and the local team pisa was playing against venice for promotion to the 1st division! and they won 3-1! in the coffee shop some pisa fans were shouting! and when we left pisa the match was over and the fans kept honking their cars and celebrating! they were waving their pisa flags like what we did when singapore won the AFC! yay!
okay, then we went to our florence hotel, hotel delta florence! it's next to the highway! and it's quite nice! had dinner! and then slept!

europe rocks! yay! was very fun!
shall blog about each day in europe!
day 1
left singapore for doha. and rome. doha airport is in the middle of a desert and it was so hot!
see the desert! we had to take a bus from the plane to the terminal! then after that was our flight to rome! rome's da vinci airport quite ulu! then we boarded our bus and went for dinner although we ate like siao on the plane! they said it was lousy but it's not that lousy! but who cares! we were so full and so tired we didnt finish the food. i went out for a walk, and to find some newspapers but sadly there werent any (even if there were, it's in italian).arrived in our rome hotel, hotel ibis. slept.
day 2
went to vatican city and saw the largest church in the world or something. it's the largest something. st peter's basilica! the dome damn nice.
had to queue up for 2h to get in.
so while they queued up we went to explore rome's streets. bought gelato and saw lots of souvenirs from fake jerseys to keychains. bought none of them.

inside the museum we saw a lot of things. including michalangelo's masterpiece, which he took 4 years to draw with his head up. crazy fella!

in the afternoon we went to the colesseum. :D
so cool right!but we didnt go in haha
spanish steps! ive been dreaming of this place for so long! :Dwent to trevi fountain. there's a saying that if u throw 1 coin into the fountain, u'll come back to rome. throw 2 and find love in rome. throw 3 and divorce. so i threw 1 coin and 2 coins. in separate throws. only time'll tell if the saying is true or not!
went back to the hotel and slept.
